Muskegon Montessori Academy for Environmental Change headed down to Muskegon’s beautiful Heritage Landing for a service learning project. There, the children put on their gloves, grabbed a garbage bag and explored the grounds with their teacher. Along the way, the students were able to see the different types of trees and bushes living next to the lakeshore while finding large and small pieces of garbage among them. Students removed all the waste they discovered so it no longer interfered with the living organisms. All grades, kindergarten through sixth, were excited to help clean up their park and will hopefully continue to carry out their community responsibilities for the rest of their lives.
